What we do

Heating, Power And Water, Designed As One Practice.

Behind every comfortable office, efficient laboratory, modern school or well-designed home is a network of services quietly working in the background. That is where we come in.

One practice

Three Engineering Services, One Design Conversation.

01

In-House

We don’t outsource the electrical, we don’t subcontract the public health. All three disciplines live in the same Newmarket office.

02

Coordinated

Decisions made in one discipline inform the others from the first brief, between engineers who work in the same room.

03

End-To-End

The engineer who designs at Stage 2 is the engineer who watches commissioning at Stage 5. No handovers between teams.

Our process

How We Work Alongside Your Project.

From the first feasibility conversation through to commissioning and handover, with the same team across every stage.

01 Early design

Feasibility And Strategy

Setting the engineering approach early, while the design is still flexible. Sizing the brief honestly, working out the low-carbon strategy, and giving you cost guidance before the scope is fixed. The directors lead at this stage so the decisions that shape the rest of the project sit with the engineers who will see it through.

02 Detailed design

Design And Coordination

Detailed mechanical, electrical and public health design, all drawn in-house. The three disciplines are coordinated between themselves and with the architect and structural team from the first model onwards, not stitched together at the end. Senior engineers lead, with the directors staying close through design reviews.

03 On site

Construction Support

On call for contractor queries, attending site coordination meetings, reviewing technical submittals and watching what gets installed against what was specified. The same engineers who designed the project are the ones answering the questions, so nothing gets lost in handover.

04 Handover and beyond

Commissioning And Handover

Verifying the building services perform the way they were designed to. Witnessing commissioning, reviewing O&M documentation, and being there for the post-occupancy questions that surface in the first year of operation. The work doesn't end at handover.

What we design

Mechanical. Electrical. Water.

Every building needs these three engineering systems. We design all three in-house from Newmarket, in the same room and on the same model from the first brief. One team, one model, one conversation, and far fewer coordination problems when you get to site.

01

Mechanical Engineering

Comfort year-round, with running costs that stay predictable. We design heating, cooling, ventilation and hot water sized to how the building will actually be used, not oversized to be safe. Where it makes sense, we lead with heat pumps and renewables.

Capabilities
  • Heating and cooling design
  • Ventilation and indoor air quality
  • Hot water systems
  • Heat pumps and renewables
  • Low-carbon and BREEAM design
02

Electrical Engineering

Power and controls built to flex as the building evolves. We design power distribution, lighting, fire detection and data infrastructure to current standards. Smart controls planned in from the brief, so the building still performs as well in year ten as it did at handover.

Capabilities
  • Power distribution and small power
  • Lighting and lighting controls
  • Fire detection and life safety
  • Data, communications and AV
  • Smart building controls (BMS)
03

Public Health Engineering (Water And Drainage)

Water systems coordinated from the brief, not bolted on at the end. We design all the water in the building (supply, drainage, sanitation and rainwater) integrated with the rest of the engineering from concept onwards. Water efficiency considered from the start.

Capabilities
  • Hot and cold water supply
  • Drainage, above and below ground
  • Sanitary fittings and accessories
  • Rainwater harvesting and reuse
  • Water efficiency and greywater
The full picture

What That Covers In Practice.

Whether it is a family home extension, a school needing a comfortable learning environment, a laboratory requiring specialist ventilation or a commercial development aiming to reduce energy use, our role is to make sure the building performs as it should, both now and in the future.

  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
  • Electrical design and power systems
  • Lighting design
  • Renewable and low-carbon technologies
  • Energy efficiency and sustainability advice
  • Public health and water services
  • Fire alarm and life safety systems
  • Data and communications infrastructure
  • Building performance and compliance support
Methodologies

Surveys, Models And Aftercare.

Approaches and tools we apply to every project, regardless of discipline or sector.

BIM Coordination

All three disciplines designed in a single coordinated model from concept stage, so clashes are resolved on screen before they reach site. Compatible with the architect and structural team's BIM workflow.

Condition Surveys And Feasibility

Early-stage advice on existing buildings and proposed schemes. Condition surveys of existing services, feasibility studies for refurbishment or change of use, and option appraisals before the brief is fixed.

Post-Occupancy Evaluation

Returning after handover to measure how the building is actually performing in use. Where there's a gap between design intent and reality, we find it and put it right.

We are happy to look at briefs early, before the engineering scope is fixed. The sooner we are involved, the more value the design tends to add.
